Fractured Unity's plot:

Long before the game starts,  the mysterious Cosmic Mages are landing on Earth. They attack the Capital trying to conquer it and enslave the people. By joining forces, six nations defeat the Cosmic Mages and force them to leave the planet. Due to the nature of the elements, the people belonging to the Lightning class made a greater contribution to the victory than other nations.

Shortly after that, the Book of Unity is written, describing the chronology of events, the tactical moves used in battle and the rules with the most important about the need to stay together.

Some of the people want to return to their homelands while others want to stay in the Capital. They decide to split. Once a year the elders of each nation should come together at the Capital, where the supreme government will be located. The Book of Unity should be kept by each nation for 100 years and then pass on to the next nation. It is decided that the first people to keep it will be the Lightning people as the most courageous brawlers of the recent battle.

The war against the Cosmic Mages hasn't been without cost. Now there are three giant rifts and many ruins. The homes of the Venom people are destroyed, they head out to the west. Shadow people return to the wastelands, Terra people return to the forest, Fire people return to the volcanos, Frost people - to the nearby ice peaks. Lightning people found the temple on the top of the highest mountain to meditate.

The valley at the center of the new Venom settlement exudes the toxic underground gas, which causes Venom people to slowly become Poison people. The dark water from the Black Lake flows into the valley nearby to the Shadow settlement, which makes Shadow magic a lot darker than it was before. The Poison settlement is separated from this valley by ruins so the Poison people are affected much less.

More than 500 years have passed. Isolated from each other, nations are greatly divided. The people who returned to their homelands now wield the power of their elements much better. The abilities of the citizens of the Capital almost disappear.

A greedy and power-hungry man becomes the next ruler of the Capital. He convinces people to cancel the annual meeting of the elders. Ten years later, when his position becomes very tenuous, the ruler decides to destroy the Book of Unity to further divide the different nations. To steal it and to break its protection, he summons the Cosmic Mages. Because of this dark ritual, the new cracks appear around the rifts.

The Cosmic Mages land in the center of the forest where Terra people live causing the massive destruction, then invade Frost peaks while also damaging the Fire settlement. After returning to the Capital with the stolen Book of Unity, they break its protection and tear it apart. The wind takes the torn pages all around the world.

The six nations head up to the Capital with the following purposes:

Terra - to avenge the destruction of the forest;
Fire - to avenge the massive damage dealt to their settlement;
Frost - as the current keepers of the Book of Unity;
Lightning - as the archenemies of the Cosmic Mages;
Shadow - because they fear their settlement will be destroyed as the cracks get closer to it;
Poison - at first, because they always were the ones opposing the supreme government.

And then, the events of the game take place:

1 zone:

The Terra player controls Hugo, the spirit of the earth in the form of the giant stone. His team fight against the mutants appeared after the landing of the Cosmic Mages and against the Cosmic Mages that decided to stay in the hideout. Nature's fury makes these fights easier for the defenders.

The Fire player controls Icarus, the Fire prince. His team fight against the late squad of the Cosmic Mages. The eruption occurs and helps them to destroy their opponents more easily.

The Frost player controls Isaac, the Frost prince. His team fight against the running away squad, that stole the Book of Unity, but they're still unable to go after the ones holding the book. However, the mages caught are outnumbered so they become the easy prey for Frost.

The Lightning player controls Zealon, the runaway royal child, who wanted to know more about the world at the foot of the mountain. In the beginning, he fights against the units sent by his parents to catch him, but as he descends, he starts to encounter more and more Cosmic invaders. The aura of the Lightning mountain amplifies his power so he stays safe and sound.

The Shadow player controls Kyosou, the child, who was the only one to have enough bravery to head up to the Capital. He fights against the mutated animal-like entities, inhabiting the wasteland between his settlement and the road to the Capital. What makes it easier is the dumbness of the mutants.

The Poison player controls Acania, the middle-aged assassin, who heads the team of Poison warriors. They fight against the killing squads sent to crush the uprising of the Poison people. However, the squads are outnumbered and are easy to deal with.

2 zone:

After passing the rift crossing, Terra squad catches up with the Poison team. They achieve a high level of synergy when forced to fight against the killing squads, so they decide to continue their way to the Capital together. As they proceed through the ruins of the old Venom settlement, the Poison team begins to understand the true reasons why they should continue fighting.

After descending from the Lightning mountain, Zealon sees Kyosou struggling in the hard fight and helps him to defeat the monster. Kyosou has no choice but to accept the proposal to team up. Despite the apparent antinomies, they find out they have much in common.

Icarus' and Isaac's teams meet at the river. As leaders of friendly and close nations and as friends, they decide to join the forces.

3 zone (the Capital):

Kyosou and Zealon meet the Frost and Fire squads. Together they decide to get around the city to go almost or completely unseen. At the square when the final battle against the Cosmic Mages took place more than 500 years ago, they meet Poison and Terra people. Together they get through the city gathering more and more local rebellions. They defeat the minions of the mayor, then the Cosmic warriors, then the Cosmic city councils, then the mayor himself and then they defeat the leaders of the Cosmic Mages, forcing them to leave once more.
