New hero: Antinomy

This character is based on an idea of a hero sharing his torment and pain with the enemies and, eventually, allies.

Background

Several years ago, Antonius was just a young Macedonian soldier. He had a girlfriend, Laura, that he loved with all his heart. But suddenly, she died in a tragic accident. This accident was caused neither by omnics nor by humans. Having no one to blame, unable to take revenge for her death and losing the meaning of life, he wandered, suffering from the unbearable pain. He would have committed suicide if it wasn't for the promise made to Laura to live on if something bad will happen to her. Decades of torment resulted in him partially losing his mind. The day he met an unsavory scientist changed everything.

Now Antinomy enters the battlefield not to support the parties but to inflict the pain and torment to relieve his own. His suit allows him to extract the shards from his own pain as well as keeps him alive in difficult situations. The zeal with which he enters the fight terrifies not only his foes but also allies. However, soon he'll realize that harming others won't help him relieve his suffering and understand that he's no more than a tool in the hands of the vile superiors.

Role

Burst damage-dealer

Abilities

The Promise (Passive)

Every time Antimony is about to receive lethal damage, he gains a shield that blocks all the incoming and outgoing damage for 1 second. Every time the damage blocked (including the lethal damage that caused this shield to proc), Antinomy receives 2 black shards which can be used by his abilities later. Max 10 shards. Cooldown: 5 sec.

Notes: Cooldown can be adjusted after testing. If activating the shield regularly isn't enough to gain a sufficient amount of shards, they can be also obtained passively, 1 shard per 2 or 3 seconds.

Throw Stone (Weapon - Splash projectile)

Grabs a heavy stone from the ground and immediately flings it at the enemy. Affected by gravity. 4 charges. 0.3-sec cast point, ~1.3-sec average flying time, takes 2 secs to replenish charges.

Notes: The angle at which the stones are thrown is a bit random. However, it will always be possible to pull the stones that are thrown one after another with the Focal Point ability.

Focal Point (Ability - Channeling)

Pulls the nearby projectiles towards point located at the direction Antinomy facing, 8 meters away from him. Radius of effect: 6 meters. Cooldown: 3 sec.

Cruelty (Ability)

Launches 4 black shards that fly in a straight line before colliding with an enemy or a wall. Restores health to Antinomy equal to the damage dealt. Requires Antinomy to have at least four black shards. Damage: 100 (direct hit). Cooldown: 8 sec.

Notes: This ability was supposed to work on allies as well, but it may cause problems with players intentionally damaging their teammates. In theory, this behavior is easy to detect, if it's the same in reality, then this ability should work on allies as well.

Unbearable Torment (Ultimate Ability)

Antinomy stabs himself with black shards generated by his suit, dealing damage to himself depending on how much gems were used. All the enemies and allies in the range of 25 meters are forced to share his torment, receiving the same amount of damage. Everyone affected by this ability including Antinomy is also stunned for 1 second. Cast time: 1.2 seconds.

Notes: During the cast time, the shards are forming a circle around Antinomy, while rotating so their sharp sides become pointed towards Antinomy, then they rapidly pierce him.

The players are irritated with how much there are crowd control ultimates; this ultimate can hardly be called a proper crowd control because it requires the teammates to be a distance away, instead, its main purpose is to deal damage and maybe secure some kills.

The response Antinomy uses upon activating the ultimate ability, "Почувствувајте ја мојата болка!" ("Feel my pain!"), has no equivalent in English. Allies, as well as the enemies, hear the Macedonian version. This is because Unbearable Torment affects both enemies and allies in the same way and poses a threat to both teams.

Expected gameplay

Antinomy is a damage-dealer, who wants to activate his shield as often as possible to deal decent damage. Because of that, he constantly moves in and out of battle: jumps into a fight, comes closer to the enemy team, throws some stones, uses Focal Point to help teammates hit the enemy and then, as the shield procs, retreats to heal.

The actions described, however, aren't that easy. He doesn't have any mobility skills, so he needs help from his teammates to retreat successfully. He also needs someone to heal him after the assault because searching for health packs takes too much time and healing with Cruelty requires him to be in (or, at least, near) the battle. This makes Antinomy a character who heavily relies on his team.

Once the ultimate is almost charged, Antinomy stops using Cruelty as he will need black shards later. This puts him into a more disadvantageous position.

This hero is all about being on the razor's edge. Because of that, if he becomes too weak, he shouldn't be provided with mobility skill, instead, his combat qualities should be improved. Shield duration is the only survivability parameter that may be adjusted.

Character notes

Due to his trauma, Antinomy wasn't able to grow up properly, so he still has a teen's heart. This is, however, hard to notice because most of the time he's out of his mind - most of his responses should be the cry of physical or mental pain. Other responses are short and are shouted by Antinomy. Only a few phrases are the normal ones. It is supposed he's saying them when he regains his consciousness.
